Looking To The Cross | Day 31 | 1 Timothy 2:5-6

A mediator is one who stands between two sides and works toward reconciliation. When Christ hung on the Cross of Calvary, He was acting as a Mediator.

He brought the Creator and the Creation together. He settled the debt that existed because of the sins committed by man. He paid the price of our redemption in full personally through His shed blood. Christ, and only Christ, could pay such a price and it is only through Him that we have access to our Heavenly Father.

He stands before God on our behalf and declares “It is finished. The price has been paid. The obligation is fulfilled.”

He stands before us and declares “Come unto me” as He invites us to repentance, reconciliation and restoration with He Who created us in His very image. We do not bring any rights, any justification, any works to the Cross. Jesus did it all and paid it all. We do not gain reconciliation through a Priest or a Pastor.

Our Mediator is the one Who paid the debt personally and is One with the Father. He is our Advocate. He is our High Priest. He is our Mediator and as such, He invites us to the Cross where we are reminded of the high cost of our salvation and the immeasurable love of our Creator. The debt has been satisfied through the work of our Mediator, Jesus Christ, Who died for the sins of the world.
