Looking To The Cross | Day 3 | Matthew 26:6-13

It’s amazing how few people really comprehended the purpose and mission of Jesus when he walked on this earth.

Multiple times he told his disciples that he would go to the cross and be crucified, yet no matter how many times he did so, they just didn’t get it. It’s fascinating to see how Mary, Martha’s, and Lazarus’ sister, was one of the only ones to truly get what Jesus was about to do.

The cost of this act of worship was incredible. It was looked at even by Jesus’ disciples as a waste, yet Jesus allows this sacrificial gift to be poured out on him. Jesus knew the cost of his death, and Mary got a glimpse of it as well.

There is no price you can put on the act of Jesus’ sacrifice, and we need to wrap our minds around that as well. This act of worship was so meaningful to Jesus that He said that wherever and whenever the gospel would be proclaimed in the future, the story of Mary pouring out this costly perfume would be told as well.

I believe it’s because Jesus always wants us to remember that nothing is wasted when it's poured out on Jesus and for Jesus. What His death cost him is incomparable to what it will cost us to worship and follow Jesus. What are you willing to “waste” in the eyes of others, so that Jesus will be glorified and lifted up?

Here, now, starts the filler text for the rest of the chapter.
