Looking To The Cross | Day 40 | Revelation 5:11-13

Our family loves to ask questions that help spark conversations and give insight into each other’s personality and interests. One day, our oldest son asked the family what our favorite sound was.

The answers ranged from the giggles of children to the crack of a wooden baseball bat to the crackle of a campfire and so on. As I have had more time to reflect on this, I recall the passionate worship services that I experienced in college. From time to time, I would stop singing and just listen for a moment; I could hear the voices of a thousand believers singing passionately to God, and my heart and mind would overflow with joy and peace. It was as if God was allowing me to crack the door of Heaven and catch a glimpse of the future.

One day, this will be the reality for all of us who follow Jesus. We will worship in the fulness of God’s presence, not just free from sin and despair, but also more alive than we have ever been before. All of this because of the great cost that King Jesus paid for us on the cross. But what about now? Do we live with the mindset that Jesus is worthy of all that we are and all that we value? Take time and echo the prayer of Jesus in Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”
