Looking To The Cross | Day 38 | 1 John 2:2

Have you ever heard the grandiose stories of God performing miracles through missionaries and felt like those powerful moments were out of reach for you; or heard the incredible testimonies of people who were saved from radical scenarios and thought that you couldn’t be used by God because your story wasn’t good enough?

One of the most profound lies that we believe is that God wants good, but not great, things for us. We see God’s hand on the lives of others and just assume that it is not as active in our own lives.

When Jesus gave his life on the cross it was an equal payment. Every human was guilty of sin and the punishment for humanity’s rebellion was too great for us to manage on our own, and so, in one majestic and powerful display, Jesus, who had never committed any sin, took on the fullness of humanity’s sin and allowed himself to be brutally beaten and killed.

And so, no matter your background, if you have trusted Christ as savior and king (Romans 10:9-10), then you can be assured that the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11) is dwelling within you to perform powerfully for the sake of the Gospel (Acts 1:8). Pray today and thank God for the power of his salvation. Ask him what you can do today to live out the example of Jesus’ sacrifice.
