Looking To The Cross | Day 22 | Galatians 2:20
Have you, (who loves the things of this world), died yet?
Or does that person still live on underneath your Christian persona?
Have you forsaken the sin to which you once clung for comfort and satisfaction since finding true peace with God? Have you laid aside your personal agendas so that Christ might live His life through you?
Do you desire the holiness that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, so clearly laid out as the standard for His creatures and followers? Is your life marked by increasing love and obedience to God’s commands which Christ, in perfect love, gave His life to accomplish?
Do you delight in the things of God or cherish the things of the world?
Let us honestly ask these questions, for it is right for us to humbly examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5). If these fruits of the Spirit are evident in your soul, sing and rejoice before the Lord, for the dead man has been crucified with Christ, and you are now born again by the indwelling of His Spirit!
However, if you still love your sin and hate your neighbor, fear God’s judgment. Repent and believe Christ, for He will provide inexhaustible mercy on the cross for every sin you have committed. He loves you and will save your soul.
That being said, let us not linger on ourselves in the flesh for too long, for we shall only find woefully fallible imperfection there. For every glance at ourselves, take ten long gazes at Christ, who is the author and finisher of our faith by which we now live as new creations.
