Looking To The Cross | Day 20 | 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Before phones were invented, people communicated vital messages through telegrams.

These were brief, printed messages that typically contained on average of fifteen words. The sole purpose of the telegram carrier was to take the message from the telegraph office to the recipient; no matter the topic of the message. The carrier did not tweak the message to his liking. He simply knew it was essential and delivered it.

It was an efficient way to send an urgent message, with the most important details clearly and concisely stated at the top of the telegram. The message could then be easily distilled by the recipient and conveyed to members of the household, friends, or town.

The Gospel is the most urgent news to be taken to any recipient!

We as followers of Christ are God’s messengers responsible for carrying the Gospel to mankind, just as Paul did with the Corinthians when he reminded them of the Gospel’s simple tenets of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior.

Paul did not alter the message and specified that He maintained the accuracy of what was conveyed to him. The recipient’s life and eternity rested upon their personal belief of this saving Gospel message. But before that message could be received, it had to be delivered. Someone had to carry it.

Follow Paul’s example to communicate a “telegram Gospel” …delivering an urgent message quickly, clearly, and sticking to utmost accuracy of the Scriptures. It should be our honor and joy to eagerly carry the Gospel to those around us, and trust in God to work in the hearts of those who receive it. We are the message carriers, Christ’s ambassadors to the world.

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news”, (Rom. 10:15).
