I am Invincible - Be Still

The HMS Invincible was the lead ship of her class of three battlecruisers built for the British Royal Navy during the first decade of the twentieth century in 1906. She was the first battlecruiser built by any country in the world.

During the first World War with Germany in 1916 she proved she was not so invincible as during a sea battle, two German ships fired three salvoes each at the Invincible and sank her in 90 seconds. The shell penetrated the front of 12 Inch gun turret, blew off the roof and detonated the midships magazines, which blew the ship in half. Of her crew, 1026 officers and men were killed, including Rear-Admiral Hood.

The Christian life is not a Cruise Ship, it is a Battleship.

Question? - How do we have confidence in the midst of dangers toils and snares that try to consume us and drive us to despair?

Answer: Philippians 1:6 –” Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Conclusion: We are Invincible until God finishes His work in us. - (Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

In a world where we are pressed on every side: chaos, moral and spiritual decay; divisions; wars, strife, divorce, abortions, etc. – We need a refuge; a might fortress; a stronghold; a solid rock on which to stand as the world is “Slip sliding away’” from God.

A MIGHTY CHEERLEADER

As I read Psalm 46 over again and again, God is shouting the words to me in the first person like a “Cheerleader”.

Verse 1: I am your refuge, strength, helper.

Verse 2: Do not Fear (1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment).

Verse 3: Though the world is raging and pressing on every side, it is mere sound and fury signifying nothing to me!

Verse 4: I will change the roaring of the sea to a peaceful river of life. (Rev 21:6 To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life).

Verse 5: My kingdom will not fail or fall.

Verse 6: In my Kingdom I will make all things new – (Rev. 21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away)

Verse 7: If I am with you – who can be against you? (Romans 8:31)

Verse 8,9: Come and see! Wars cease, weapons broken and burned.

Verse 10,11: Be still “SELAH” and know that I am God. I am your fortress and protector, and I will be exalted in heaven and earth, and nothing, including the gates of hell will prevail against me.

God is shouting “I AM INVINCIBLE” and so are you by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. So, if you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask what you wish, and it will be done for you that your joy may be full “. (John 15:7) (John 16:24).
