OurMission_2Our mission is to pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered LIFEWe want to do less me-centered living and more God-centered living. When God becomes the radiant center of our lives, we begin to do more than merely exist—we begin to live. But don’t let anyone fool you; living for God is costly. At times, it means trusting Him when life makes zero sense. At other times, it means letting go of our own personal desires in order to experience what He desires.

At Life Fellowship, we believe it’s worth the effort to pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered life. There is simply nothing more rewarding than living for the One who sent His Son to die for us. It’s quite the paradox, but Jesus died for us so that we might live for Him. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). We want everyone to experience the LIFE that Jesus came to give us and the key is to pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered LIFE! We have to pursue the one who came to pursue us (Luke 19:10).

At Life Fellowship we start our services by saying, “Welcome to the place where LIFE is defined.” We say that because we believe when you pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered LIFE, your life will no longer lack definition. We define LIFE this way: real life is never fully defined until one is:

Living In Community

Investing In Growth

Finding Your Purpose

Embracing Our Mission

God wants each of us to live a fully-orbed LIFE. Some people do great living in community, but not so great embracing God’s mission. It is only when we experience each of the LIFE components that our life will feel well defined. At Life Fellowship, we believe when you pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered LIFE that you will end up living in community, investing in growth, finding your purpose and embracing your mission. When this happens, LIFE happens. When LIFE happens, God’s vision for His church happens!

OurBeliefsWe live in a culture that often shirks at the idea of absolute truth. In fact, our culture is marching to the tune of a belief known as relativism, which states, “There is no such thing as truth.” At Life Fellowship not only do we believe in truth, but we also believe truth can be known, experienced and defined. Though we live in a world full of untold mysteries and serve a God of mystery He has chosen to reveal to us some very simple, yet profound truths that we express beneath through the acrostic: D-O-C-T-R-I-N-E.

Deity and Humanity of Christ -
(John 1:1, 20:28; Acts 20:28b; Hebrews 1:8a; Titus 1:3b, 2:13)

Original Sin and Separation from God -
(Genesis 1:26, 2:1-17, 6:5; Romans 3:10-19; Ephesians 2:1-3)

Christ’s Death for Sin and His Bodily Resurrection -
(John 3:16; Romans 5:8, 10:9-10)

The Trinity -
(Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts)

Return of Christ Physically -
(Ezekiel 37:21-28; Matthew 24:15-25; 2Timothy 3:1-5; Revelation 20:1-3)

Inerrancy and authority of Scripture -
(Mark 12:26, 12:36, 13:11; Luke 24:27; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

Necessary Salvation by Grace Through Faith in Christ Alone -
(John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9)

Eternal Security of the Believer -
(John 5:24, 10:28, 13:1, 14:16-17, 17:11; Romans 8:29; 1 Corinthians 6:19)

7-20-14 – LifeQuest Membership Class
9-7-14 – Newcomer’s Reception
9-14-14 – LifeQuest Membership Class

When it comes to finding a church home, one of the most important facets we investigate is the Sunday morning service.  When we visit a church we find ourselves asking questions such as: “Do I like the music? Are the people friendly?  Can I connect with the pastor?”  If so, it’s a done deal! This is where we belong.”

Okay, that might be stretching it a little bit, but here is what we do know: Sunday morning service’s only gives people a snap shot of the church as a whole.  There is so much more to the local church than just the Sunday morning service.

That is where Life Quest comes in.  Life Quest is a 90-minute class that is designed to help our guests gain a better understanding of what we call our “LIFE vision”.  One of our members has described Life Quest as “the place where people can really get under the hood of what we are doing.”

At Life Quest, we talk about the vision, values, philosophy and beliefs behind Life Fellowship.  It’s a great place to hear the story of how Life Fellowship came to be.  Furthermore, it provides a wonderful opportunity for meeting other guests and asking questions you may have.

In fact, Life Quest is our official membership class.  It’s at this class where the rubber meets the road. After attending Life Quest, people feel like they have a much better grasp of the vision of Life Fellowship Church.  More importantly, when people leave, they know if this is the type of church of which they want to become a part.  What you will enjoy the most about this tour through the vision of Life Fellowship is this vision can become your vision.  Life Fellowship calls others to join in our story by helping people realize that our story can become their story.  For more information about when the next Life Quest class is scheduled, please contact our administrative assistant, Brian Erwin.

Life University is part of our over-all strategy for discipleship and equipping Believers on how to live Biblically and to teach others.  Life University classes are open to everyone of any age.  You do not need to be a member to attend.  Through Life University we teach courses like Financial Peace University or deal with topics like Apologetics, Marriage and Family, Discipleship 101, Evangelism, Discipleship and Identifying Your Spiritual Gifts.  We also do verse-by-verse Bible studies, offer video classes featuring teachers like Beth Moore or James Dobson and include studies surrounding books such as “Two Becoming One” or “The Excellent Wife”.  Classes range in length from 1 week to 1 year, with most classes lasting 6-8 weeks.

We encourage our LIFE family to come 1 hour for worship and to stay a second hour to learn or serve.  Life University is an integral part of that challenge as many stay for specialized instructions and some even serve on the Life University faculty.

Life University meets in the classrooms throughout the Community School of Davidson.  Specific room locations can be found on our directory at the front desk or Connect Table.  Signs are also posted outside the classrooms.

Most classes are offered at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays with the remaining ones meeting at 9:30 a.m.

We hold pre-enrollment 1 month prior to the start of each class and that guarantees a seat.  If seats remain, you may attend a class on a first-come-first-served basis from week to week as long as there is available space.  For more information, contact Pastor Dan Burrell.  Below are the current classes:

9:30 AM

“The Legacy Journey: A Financial Peace University Class” (You need to have taken the original Financial Peace University class to sign up) with Kerry Belcher (starting January 12 in ROOM 230)

The Legacy Journey is an all-new, seven-week, biblically based class that teaches you how to truly live and leave a legacy for generations to come. This class will lead you deeper into investing, basic estate planning, purposeful living, safeguarding your legacy, and the discovering the keys to generational wealth and true generosity. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small-group activities, you’ll learn a biblical framework for living intentionally now so that later you’ll be able to leave a legacy that will secure your family’s future and make a lasting impact on the world around you.  This is an extension of Financial Peace University and you must first complete the FPU basic class in order to enroll.

“The Truth Project” taught by Terry Oldham, (starting on January 12 in ROOM 226)

The Truth Project is a video course offered through Focus on the Family and presented by Dr. Dell Tackett. Explore dominant worldviews, the origin of Truth, Biblical responses to difficult questions, history from a Biblical perspective and so much more. An utterly fascinating and challenging series!

“Charting a Course for Your Family’s Future” taught be Bruce and Lynn Wray, Assisted by Nate/Kate Hoffman (starting on January 5 in ROOM 228)

“Intentionality” is the word that best describes this parenting class. Join us as we develop a Spirit-led plan that will help us lay a strong foundation of values and help us prioritize what is truly important in our families. This worktext, written by the Wrays, is one of the textbooks Pastor Dan Burrell uses while teaching his Family Discipleship Course for Liberty University. You won’t want to miss this class. Enrollment is limited to 12 couples.  Cost is $16 per couple.

11 AM

“A Closer Look At Islam” taught by Harold Hansen, (starting on January 5 in ROOM 224)

Join Harold Hansen as he takes a Closer Look into Islam in Life University.  This class is designed to teach everyone the basic fundamentals and beliefs of the religion of Islam and how we can kindly interface and evangelize.  Come and hear an in-depth look at what shaped this world religion and how we, as Christians, can gracefully interact with those of the Muslim faith.  Sign up this Sunday at the Connect Table.

The missions strategy for Life Fellowship includes “Heads, Hands and Hearts”.  Through these three areas, we seek to challenge thinking, help others and change lives through the Gospel. (Matthew 27:19)  In pursuing these areas, we hope to bring people to Christ locally, nationally and internationally.  We encourage people to EMBRACE their mission by becoming personally involved in taking the Gospel to others wherever they go.  Whatever we do, through apologetics, through ministering to those who are struggling, through planting churches, through supporting international projects – we are committed that it MUST contain a Gospel core.  Money, labor, supplies or mere arguments never change lives.  Only Jesus can give real answers, real hope, real sustenance and real change.  We are all for philanthropy and believe it should be done, but our highest goal is to see people of all nations, all socio-economic strata, all intellectual and educational levels and all races hear the ONLY message that will still matter in a thousand years – that is….Jesus Saves!

Our missions ministry is established as 10% of the previous year’s actual giving plus any special financial gifts that are designated through our regular and special offerings.  The total base amount designated to missions for Fiscal Year 2013-14 is: $114,600.

LifeGroupsLife Groups are one of the primary ways in which we ‘do life together’ at Life Fellowship. Our Life Groups are open to members and non-members alike. We encourage all of our members to connect and plug into a Life Group at Life Fellowship. If you are new to Life Fellowship and not a member yet, we strongly encourage you to engage in a Life Group setting as well. Our Life Groups provide a fantastic opportunity to Gather, Grow, and Go. (read more about our vision…) Below, you will see many of our Life Groups. More Life Groups are coming soon… We have more than 30 Life Groups in total that meet around the Charlotte area. Our groups meet on various nights throughout the week and in various locations. Some eat together, some provide childcare, and some gather in creative ways. Ladies of Life

Ladies Of Life brings together ladies of every age and walk of life in order to pursue the heart of Jesus Christ.  We seek to provide a friendly setting and glorify God together.  We create an atmosphere where ladies can be encouraged, where the Holy Spirit can work and where ladies can do life together in a God-centered way.  We offer a variety of Bible studies specifically designed for the seasons of a ladies’ life.  We schedule special events which include fellowship, prayer and worship.  We emphasize growth through the fulfillment of Titus 2:3-5 and by connecting people interested in discipleship.  If you have any questions, please contact our Ladies’ Director, Pam Meyer.

Mom-to-Mom is an exciting new ministry at Life Fellowship designed around the Titus 2:4 strategy of older ladies teaching and encouraging younger ladies in their relationships with their husbands and children. Let’s face it–the journey of motherhood is exciting, scary, delightful and challenging. Through small group studies led by “Titus 2″ leaders, we can grow together in our parenting skills and in our wholeness as ladies – intellectually, relationally and spiritually

Please look for details in the upcoming church bulletins and at the Ladies’ Ministry table each Sunday.

Ladies Discipleship

Please contact Pam Meyer if you have thought about discipleship or being discipleship.

Coming Soon: October 1

At Life Fellowship, we believe that parents are the spiritual leaders of the home.  We also understand the importance of leveraging the influence of the church and are passionate about partnering with you in order to make a greater impact on the spiritual development of your child.  By working together towards the same goal, every child in KidLife can grow up with an authentic faith in Jesus and pursue Him at all costs.

Our mission statement says it best:  To partner with parents in leading children to pursue at all costs a passionate God-centered life.  Through that God-centered life, they will truly know, love, and serve Jesus Christ with all of their heart.

Each Sunday morning we partner with you in teaching children God’s Word at an age-appropriate level. We use the “Children Desiring God” curriculum in each class. The goal is that our children not only learn what the Bible says, but that they live out what the Bible calls them to do.  Here’s an outline of our program:

The KidLife Nursery is designed for infants ages birth through 15 months. We provide a safe and secure, Christ-centered environment where babies are loved, nurtured, and prayed for by name.

The Toddler ministry is designed for children ages 16-35 months. The environment is both educational and enjoyable as the little ones are introduced to stories from God’s Word, supported by Scripture verses and activities that reinforce the lesson.

Our preschool classrooms are is comprised of 3- and 4-year-olds who learn the big picture of who God is: His character, power and faithfulness.

Our Kindergarteners learn about the greatness of our Savior, Jesus Christ, by exploring key New Testament themes.

1st & 2nd GRADE
KidLife’s early elementary children are introduced to the attributes of God and are challenged to consider how they should respond to their amazing Father who deserves all of their praise.

3rd & 4th GRADE
Children in the 3rd & 4th grades move through the Old Testament in search of clues that will foreshadow the coming of Jesus and His redemptive work on the cross.

5th GRADE
5th graders will understand God and His desire to be an active part of their lives.

Each week at Elevate, the kids participate in a worship service designed just for them. This includes an interactive large group time of engaging worship focused on praising God for who He is.

I am super excited for the fall and all that it will bring!  We are launching new curriculum for both preschool and elementary beginning September 7.  This curriculum is Biblically grounded, uniquely creative, applicable to the lives of kids today, and strategically structured to partner with parents and influence the next generation for Christ.  I’d encourage you to check it out at whatisorange.org where you can find out more about the strategy behind the curriculum and even check out samples of the Preschool curriculum, First Look at whatisorange.org/firstlook and the Elementary curriculum, 252 Basics at whatisorange.org/252basics.

With implementing new curriculum for both preschool and elementary, I want to make sure you have one of the dates below on your calendar.  We will cover the new curriculum, format, roles, processes, etc. so it will be very important to be there.  Please note, you will only need to come to ONE of these training sessions.  I wanted to offer multiple options to make it easier for everyone to attend.  Please RSVP for which training session you can attend by Sunday, August 17 for planning purposes.

Opportunities are available at every service from helping with our check-in system and greeting families to loving on an infant and sharing Jesus with a child.  Contact our KidLife Director, Rebecca Peters, to experience the magic and leave a legacy for eternity.

Wow!  What an exciting time to be part of Student Life at Life Fellowship.  Check it out!

Student Life is expressed and experienced thru two unique and creative venues…

  • The Sunday Morning Experience – this includes worship, teaching, and Student Life University or SLU.
  • The Midweek Student Experience – we are currently meeting a couple of times a month for fellowship.

Beginning in January 2014 we are launching a 3rd element to the Student Life experience…  Student Life Groups…  an opportunity for our students to meet in homes with their peers to process truth, accountability, and relationships even further. These groups are gathered by gender and age.  We are currently identifying and equipping those adults who have a passion for student ministries and cell groups to invest their time into these students.

Student Life provides a fantastic opportunity to Gather, Grow, and Go.

A place to GATHER  |  to be part of something  | Acts 2

  • We gather on Sunday morning and midweek to celebrate, be equipped, and launched into our schools and into the world

A place to GROW  |  to develop and be equipped for service and ministry  | Ephesians 4

  • We gather to experience truth, accountability, and relationships. These gatherings equip us to grow in our faith journey. Student Life offers a place to feed our soul from God’s Word and be nourished by accountability and relationships at the same time.

A place to GO  |  to  develop as a leader, as a disciplemaker, as servant  |  Matthew 28

  • We gather together for the purpose of ‘going out’. Life is not meant to be lived in a ‘spiritual bubble’. In Student Life we are developing future leaders, disciplemakers, and servants. We want our students to live an ‘arrows out’ life.

  • Sunday morning experience meets on our main worship campus every Sunday: Grades 6-8 Meet at the 9:30 hour and Grades 9-12 meet at the 11AM Hour
  • Sunday midweek experience currently meets at the Life Fellowship office on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings of every month from 6:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Get connected by joining us this Sunday at 9:30 & 11am or email Simon Foster.

Please know that there is a 2.5% charge for giving done through the website.  This is paid from the donation and not charged to you.  If your bank has automatic “Bill Pay”, we encourage you to use this service if you plan on making an on-going automatic donation.  If you’d like to cover the fee yourself as you donate, you’ll find a category for “Bank Fees” which you may use to offset the bank charge.  Thank you for your faithful support of the many ministries of Life Fellowship!
